The lighthouse of Scheveningen, not to be confused with the light-beacon on the pier, is an official monument of The Netherlands. Located at the harbor of Scheveningen, a historic port which is now the oceanfront neighborhood of The Hague, the capital of the Netherlands. The cast iron lighthouse was built in 1875 and to this date functions as an official lighthouse, although since the advent of radar and the decrease of the use of the port of Scheveningen its greater purpose is to add to the tourist-characteristics of Scheveningen.
